Demography

There are approximately 100 Jews living in Botswana, predominantly Israelis working in agriculture and industry, and South Africans who migrated. It is the fastest growing Sub Saharan community, concentrated in the capital city, Gaborone.

Community Life

Judaism can be practiced openly. 

There is no synagogue, but there are plans to build one. Regular Friday night Shabbat services take place in community homes. 

There is no resident rabbi. Rabbi Silberhaft, the 'travelling rabbi', officiates when needed at ceremonies.

Kashrut

Kosher food is delivered from South Africa.
